Toure is set to play for his homeland Ivory coast in the third place play-off agaisnt Ghana. But Gunners boss Weger would like Toure to miss the game and return from Africa immediately. Ideally Wenger would like Toure back in for Monday's home game against Blackburn.
"At the moment we are down to the bare bones - the team is really, really short," said Wenger.
"Philippe Senderos has knee ligament problems so we are very short at the back, with Justin Hoyte or Gilberto to come in if Senderos doesn't play.
"I don't know if Toure can get back in time. I will try to call him to see if he can take a direct flight back."
Sendros is currently unavailable after limping out of the mid week friendly against England and Djourou is still out with a knee injury.
Premiership leaders boss Arsene Wenger wants Kolo Toure back from the Afica Cup of Nations.
Wenger who has a long list of defensive injuries is desperate for Toure to be back at the Gunners as soon as possible.
