Manchester Untied have been told that they must come close to breaking the British transfer record if they want to sign Spurs striker Dimitar Berbatov.
The news comes after United made a £20 million pound bid which was rejected by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy. Spurs are asking for closer to £30 million for the skilful striker but may accept an offer of around £25 million.
With Spurs hot on the trail of David Bentley it seems that if an increased offer comes in for Berbatov then they may let him go, with boss looking at Spanish striker Luis Garcia as a possible replacement.
With news that Arsenal being the new favorites to land Gareth Barry it looks like Liverpool are turning their attentions towards Robbie Keane with a £20 million pound move possibly in the pipe line.
