Man City new boy Benjani has revealed that he didnt want to join Man City until he saw the cash that was on offer.
The news will no doubt cause concern for Manchester City fans.
The transfer saga involving Benjani was finally completed on Monday and Benjani will be thrown into the deep end as he is set to make his debut this weekend against title hopefulls and derby rivals Man Utd.
Benjani who was quoted as saying it felt like a bad dream when he first woke up soon changed his mind when he saw the cash being offerd by Man City and has doubled his wage to net a thirty thousand pound-a-week contract.
Benjani said "It was tough to leave Portsmouth and I was late leaving my home for Manchester because I kept asking myself all day whether this was all true.
"I kept telling myself it was all a bad dream and I would wake up the following day and still be a Pompey player. But this was not a dream.
"But when I looked at the contract they were offering, I couldn't believe it and I just signed there and then.
"It's the best deal, in terms of remuneration, in my entire career and I was just happy with the respect I had received from City so I signed after a few minutes."
While this is good news for Benjani it may not be so good news for City fans if Benjani does well and another club comes in with an even bigger offer.
