Over 2,000 Boro fans turned out at the Riverside to welcome Brazilian new boys Afonso Alves. Alves who could make his debut against Fulham this weekend is convinced he will make an impact on the rest of the premier league, he goes on to say "Of course it will take some time to adapt to the speed of football over here but I think I will play my own game and I will settle in the end," he said.
"There's already a very good team here. I saw the last game at the stadium and the team made a lot of chances to score. But I still think we can improve and I hope I can help."
The Brazilian forward has already stated that he is fastly settling in the North East "I feel very much at home,"
"Of course only time will tell how well I will adapt but after this warm welcome I think I will give my answer with goals.
"The Premier League is a very exiting competition. I've always thought about playing here and I will do my very best to achieve everything I can."
